Read more below and at https://northshorefairmaps.com/events/.

Then….

Sign the Fair Maps Petition.

Read the latest issue of the Fair Maps Coalition newsletter.

Get in the queue to draw your own “community of interest” map. (Who knows your community best? Why you, of course!) https://bit.ly/MapPlay. When you make a map of your community you contribute directly to the maps being drawn by the People’s Maps Commission. (How cool is that?)

Ever wonder if working on this is worth it? Check out this image from our Fair Maps friends at Pierce County Grassroots Organizing. Wisconsin is stuck in a rut because people who are supposed to work for us don’t need to pay attention to us…..

Here’s another list of examples showing the impact on gerrymandering on Madison gridlock, from the Wisconsin League of Women Voters.

Because of gerrymandering, We the People cannot get our representatives’ attention. But several of us attended listening sessions held by Rep Dan Knodl last week. He had to pay attention. He listened. He responded. Now we are following up. Will we ever see eye to eye on redistricting? Maybe not, but the folks in Madison need to know we are paying attention and DEMANDING their attention. Favorite take-away from the Brown Deer listening session? When Rep Knodl said there was no need for us to see (or would not want to see) how the redistricting “sausage was made” we emphatically replied that we indeed do want to see how this particular sausage is made! Transparency is good government. More about the listening sessions and what YOU can do to get attention at Monday’s meeting.

And when you get attention, what are you hearing? Reach out to deborah.j.patel@gmail.com and let us know what you are hearing about redistricting from your state reps or others, and we’ll make sure to address it at Monday’s meeting. There are tools to counter disinformation. Here’s one: from last week’s Ozaukee News Graphic, see Fair Maps advocate and Ozaukee County Board Member Alice Read taking on statements made by Rep Rob Brooks, and scroll through Letters to the Editor for Rep Deb Andraca’s response to disinformation

See you in the zoom room next Monday at 7PM! https://bit.ly/NSFMMonthly.
