This week, while the majority in the Legislature moves their gerrymandered maps forward to the Governor’s veto and then the courts (the Senate voted Monday and the Assembly will vote tomorrow), we took a deep breath and at our Monday night meeting we tackled the fact that “We Are Part of Something Bigger.” The meeting had fair maps updates, then we moved on to a discussion with Jeff Mandell (Law Forward) and Lizzie Ulmer (States United Democracy Center) about the attack on elections and voting rights in Wisconsin and beyond.
We have one repeat action item – reaching Tammy Baldwin – and a few new ideas. And because the ideas are new, we include a few links to learn more… The Slide Deck is also full of links and additional information, so check it out.

Hope is Our Superpower (Bryan Stevenson)
“It’s not a pie in the sky hope, it’s not
a preference for optimism over
pessimism. It’s just an orientation of
the spirit. I think we have to be
willing to believe things we haven’t
seen. That’s our superpower….
I think hopelessness is the enemy of
justice. I think injustice prevails
where hopelessness persists. And
so, hope is our requirement, it’s our
superpower.”
